  • Justin Gammon Hey. I need your input. I'm making a print here. If you were buying one, what would you like better: 1. a full view coptorilla with logo that kind of reflects the gi joe packaging 2/ a full-on recreation of a literal gijoe-style card. This print will be oversized. 12x18 inches or something like that. Please share your thoughts :)
  • Simon Frouws No 2. Love the torn card.
  • Aaron Klopp I'm really liking the torn-packaging version
  • Brian Grossman Love the one on the right.
  • Mike Jones I love the packaging version, its totally different, but I think you should make the torn parts bigger to accompany the size of an ape?? Just a thought. Love the work bro!
  • Justin Gammon @Mike Jones Funny you should mention that. You'll notice in previous rebounds of this piece, I did had that section larger. I decided to reduce the size of it to accommodate the artwork. Trying to decided what's more important - the literal figure size on the card or being able to see more of the painting.
  • Mike Jones @Justin Gammon Gotcha bro - In that case I would say that being able to see the artwork far out weighs the other. So I dig the direction. Nice work as always. Love the old school GIJOE feel. Cant wait to see the final piece. Keep up the inspiring work.
  • Mike Jones also I want this as a real action figure for my desk are you gonna go that route?
  • Kris Black My feeling is that this looks like a real mock-replica, so I would go with the oversized, larger yellow section that the gorilla would be in. I think it adds to the authenticity of the piece. It shows you gave the artwork more thought and consideration. What about the j-hole cutout at the top used to hang the toy from the metal pegs on the toy aisle. No matter what you decide, this is one awesome piece of artwork. I love it.
  • Justin Gammon I've reviewed them both at actual size, and the faux card feels very clunky and odd at a large size. 1/3 of the print will be yellow blocks. Doesn't feel good at that scale. I think I may go with the gijoe -inspired full art look. It it an obvious nod to the source material but not necessarily a real card. Thanks for all the feedback and support guys. I'll post the final drawing soon. I hope to have it wrapped up late tonight.
  • Mike Jones Looking forward to it? Thoughts on actual figures??
  • Justin Gammon @Mike Jones The toys are "real" but are customs at the moment. Maybe some day they will become more real. http://www.weirdotoys.com/2011/11/09/battle-babies-by-brad-rader/
